MITAKUYE OYASIN  – WE ARE ALL RELATED. So say the astronauts.

Interestingly, the perspective of astronauts who have seen our planet from above can be summarized by Mitakuye Oyasin – We are all related.

All is related. Earth is a system, a living organism. It is a spaceship. Our atmosphere is very thin and it is all that is protercting us from the harshness of space.

EARTH IS MOST LIKELY THE ONLY PLANET WE WILL EVER HAVE.

Today, settlers and Indigenous protestors and Warriors were subjected to violent action from the RCMP for their participation in a legitimate peaceful nonviolent action defending their lands and asserting their sovereign duty to protect the land and the people. Dear Rex: Colonialism exists, and you’re it.

Hollywood never learns: more « redface » with « The Lone Ranger » Disney movie

Lone Ranger poster
This week Disney has been releasing new character posters for this summer’s blockbuster The Lone Ranger. Watch Posters Photos – Video ===> http://bit.ly/New-TV-Spot-and-Character-Poster-for-The-Lone-Ranger-Video

Disney does not trust their viewers (I don’t care if it is geared to children: why not show them reality?) and gives them predigested stereotyped stuff instead of a real First Nations person. Duh. Neither do they pay attention to what is going on in the world i.e. Idle No more. I hope they get nailed for this.

*Grimaces* In 2013, we are still doing « redface »? WTF?

At least they are not portraying a FN person as an idiot (despite the character’s name?). But having a real FN person in the role (don’t tell me there are no FN actors available!) and making it as authentic as possible are absolute minimums and it would be a lot more interesting. This is the first and most major problem! (For a FN actor, being reluctant or turning such an offer down makes a lot of sense too.) Anyway, positive stereotypes are still stereotypes. Tonto is a good guy, but still… I mean, the strong and silent type, we have seen before.

Second problem: Who is interested in a rehash of the same old? There are no talented screenwriters around and they have to reuse the same concepts over and over? This is just a showcase for Johnny Depp to show how good he is at pretending (the first critics I want to read will be from FN persons!). I don’t go to see that kind of movie I prefer indie or « author cinema » (excuse my French brain). Too commercial, I would learn nothing. Mental laziness and attempt to cash in on « safe bets ». Pfft!

I find it annoying that in 2013 they are STILL making movies out of old colonial era books. There are excellent FN novelists, why not put THEIR books on film? My 2¢ as a settler.

Also, the crow on his head annoys me. I have never seen a FN person wear that. Who wants a dead animal on his head in the sun all day long?

And, finally, someone pointed out quite rightfully than, in Spanish, tonto means « stupid », Way to go, Hollywood!

It’s almost a case for boycott. Denial No More!

And Why Is Michelle Williams in Redface?

March 20th – Equinox – is a DAY of Balance and Sacred Ceremony – a RED AND BLUE day started here on Turtle Island and then sent around the world.

Sylvia McAdam Saysewahum (One of the founders of Idle No More) posted to Sadi Broncho (a lady I have in my Facebook): « heads up tho, lets all plan stuff for the 20th, 21st & 22nd. I think I’ll stick around PA for those days ok? I’m going back to sleep, its like 340 am here. Have to catch a flight home at 7am. Definitely tho, would like to plan stuff when I get back. » [I was concerned that this was organised without the founders’ knowledge. This allays my fears.]

Relaying a message from Theoldman’s Journal

The Journey to the Awakening of our Spirit together.

This Spring – March 20th – Equinox – is a DAY of Balance and Sacred Ceremony – a RED AND BLUE day started here on Turtle Island and then sent around the world.

A DAY OF SACRED CEREMONY has been called over the entire Turtle Island and around the world. Imagine the Prayer of every Pipe Carrier and Water Carrier and Ceremonial person opening « their  » Bundles and having the largest and most inclusive Sacred Ceremony this land has ever seen and Shared respectfully with those who come forward to Stand; combine this with the Equinox – a moment of balance between the Light and Dark – and the March 20 would begin the Indigenous Spring of 2013 around the Entire World. We will watch and take direction from the Women and then network this concept of UNITY and the SACRED – shared openly with all who respect life. Then we are really talking a Movement of Spirit.

We are going to open our International Networks FULL ON – the reason – Ceremony has been called for on MARCH 20TH – Equinox – starting here on Turtle Island North America and as the world turns the Morning Star Prayer and Ceremony will be called for in EVERY TIME ZONE. Then as the Sun Sets – a call for the reverse – a Prayer ceremony with the Waters of Life – and then an evening Feast and Gifting to each other. This is the time we have all prayed for and shortly thereafter a Movement around the World from ALL the Women of the world will begin to form…WORLD WIDE – the reason – our Human survival – and the time to SPRING INTO COLLECTIVE ACTION FOR CHANGE!

Blessings everyone for your help! Lets « CALL » the Change we want in our world. All it will take is 11% of the STANDING POPULATION OF THIS WORLD – and then watch the miracle of Life unfold.

eau

( Blessings – hope this gets discussed with the people around Turtle Island and also around the world. Lets bring about change through the choices me make individually and collectively. PLEASE NETWORK)

Big M Musings

Last week, the New York based Human Rights Watch issued a report entitled Those Who Take Us Away: Abusive Policing and Failures in Protection of Indigenous Women and Girls in Northern British Columbia, Canada. This report detailed various abuses of Indigenous women at the hands of the BC policing forces, including instances of physical and sexual assault. This report surprised far more people than it should have, given that it is the latest report in a series of more longstanding efforts to document the colonial violence endured by Indigenous women in Canada. In 2004, for example, Amnesty International put out at report titled Stolen Sisters that detailed the various structural inequalities that have produced not only alarming rates of violence against Aboriginal women but hundreds of cases of missing and murdered Aboriginal women as well. Following this report, in 2005 the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) embarked on…

It’s time to be Light to the World

This from Aaron Paquette, the great First Nations artist and visionary.

It's time to be Light to the world

My comment:

Your vision is inspiring.

And here is mine: all women from the 4 quadrants (the Red, the Yellow, the White and the Black) will unite and rise to defend Mother Earth.

For our children For our grandchildren. And their grandchildren. Seven generations.

Hear the drums of our determination.

Aho.

Rise, my sisters. It is time.
